Mama Saturn Painting

This painting is a reaction to Tanerélle song “Mama Saturn”. Specifically the verse, “close my eyes embrace my matter, swing my hips as if they bear the rings of mama Saturn…”

To me this song, and my piece is telling us to embrace what we have already. While it’s okay to want to change or fix things about ourselves, we should always be grateful for our bodies that were given to us. Today many of us take that for granted. The small blobs on the outside of her body represent us giving ourselves away to others. While this it is not always a bad thing to do, some of us (ME) over do it and then lose ourselves for the benefits of others. Can you relate?
